Practicum: Field Teaching Experience |
Description: | Under guided supervision, students demonstrate developmentally appropriate early childhood program planning and teaching competencies. Students utilize practical classroom experiences to make connections between theory and practice, develop professional behaviors, and build a comprehensive understanding of children and families. Reflective practice is emphasized as student teachers design, implement, and evaluate approaches, strategies, and techniques that promote development and learning. Students also explore career pathways, professional development, and teacher responsibilities. Portions of instruction may be offered online; may also be offered fully online. [C-ID ECE 210] |
Prerequisites: | ECED 1 (or CHDV 1); ECED 2 (or CHDV 2); ECED 51 (or CHDV 51); ECED 55 (or CHDV 55); and ECED 80 (or CHDV 80) |

| This face-to-face course uses CANVAS to provide access to online resources, assignments, and
activities. The Thursday class lecture component of the practicum will be held in person based on the day(s), time(s), and
location(s) shown above. There will be a pre-semester meeting the week before classes at 6-7pm on the Friday before the semester begins at the location shown above. 108 Lab hours requirement must be met in person at the MPC Child Development Center. Students must have regular access to a computer with high-speed Internet and be familiar with using the Internet. Click on the Lobo Apps link on the MPC website
to access Canvas, your MPC e-mail, and other online tools. This class will transition online in the event of campus closure or if health guidelines restrict the ability to conduct in-person instruction. Declared Early Childhood Education majors with an education plan on file with counselor Amber Kerchner must meet with her ( akerchner@mpc.edu) to obtain a voucher for textbook check out from MPC Library. Non-majors can purchase or rent the text online or at the MPC bookstore. |
