Principles and Practices of Teaching Young Children
Description:This course examines the historical contexts and theoretical perspectives of developmentally appropriate practice in early care and education. It explores the roles of the early childhood educator and introduces best practices for developmentally appropriate learning environments, curriculum, and effective pedagogy for young children, including how play contributes to children's learning, growth, and development. It also identifies teacher/child relationships, professional ethics, career pathways, and professional standards. Portions of instruction may be offered online; may be offered fully online.
