Jewelry: Granulation and Fusing |
Description: | This course investigates the process of granulation and fusing metals together to create small works of metal art. Students learn the ancient art of granulation, fusing,and welding sheet and wire together through lectures, demonstrations,and hands-on practice. |
Prerequisites: | ARTD 40A (or ART 84A) |
Recommended Preparation: | Students need the ability to do the following: Design and construct small-scale metal projects using basic granulation and fusing processes and simple design principles covered throughout the semester, exhibit self-confidence in the use of personal designs, acceptance of experiential learning, hand-eye coordination using different materials, skills, techniques, tools, and equipment, create successful projects through brainstorming and problem-solving basic techniques of granulation and fusing to reach new horizons, consistently use tools and equipment in a safe responsible manner as described in class and recognize safety as the most important aspect of studio protocol, organize and utilize studio time efficiently and safely, and make simple tools to facilitate the granulation, fusing and studio processes required. |
