Financial Crimes Investigation
Description:This course is designed for students investigating a variety of financial crimes. It provides students with specialized training in handling crimes related to check and credit card fraud, real estate fraud, and a variety of internet scams. This course also provides training in technology used to commit crimes and technology available to solve crimes.
Limits on Enrollment:Advisory (Non-Course): This course is designated for peace officers. Students need to be familiar with information taught in basic police academy to succeed in this course. 1. Commission on Police Officer Standards & Training (POST) certified basic law enforcement academy diploma or equivalent as determined by the Dean of Academy Instruction. NOTE: Approval of equivalent training is not a guarantee state regulatory or licensing agencies will also grant equivalency. 2. Prior to beginning this course students must already be familiar with, and be able to demonstrate all of the skills listed below. These will not be taught in the course; rather, they will be the starting point for advanced officer training that builds upon them. These minimum knowledge and skill levels are regarding: Familiarity with search warrants, Knowledge of criminal law, Familiarity with Penal Code, Familiarity with criminal investigations, and Familiarity with report writing. The requisites listed are required by Eric Nelson.
Repeatability:May be repeated once if grade was D or F.
