| Tactical Patrol Rifle Instructor |
| Description: | This course provides training for the instruction of patrol rifle use. Topics include firearms safety, cleaning and maintenance of the patrol rifle, handling and use of the patrol rifle, lesson plan development, adult learning styles, and use of force. This is a POST certified course. |
| Limits on Enrollment: | 1. Commission on Police Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certified basic law enforcement academy diploma or equivalent as determined by the Dean of Academy Instruction. NOTE: Approval of equivalent training is not a guarantee state regulatory or licensing agencies will also grant equivalency.
2. Prior to beginning this course students must already be familiar with, and be able to demonstrate all of the skills listed below. These will not be taught in the course; rather, they will be the starting point for advanced officer training that builds upon them. These minimum knowledge and skill levels are regarding: Familiarity with firearms safety, Familiarity with firearms cleaning and storage techniques, Familiarity with range safety, Knowledge of basic shooting techniques, Familiarity with combat shooting skills, Familiarity with firearms, Familiarity with use of force Requisite information and detail has been requested by Eric Nelson, CCCCO. |
