Description: | The course examines the changes in Western life and thought that resulted from the rediscovery of the classical ages of Greece and Rome. It features many of the places, figures and events that define the Renaissance, including Florence, the Medici, the growth of trade and cities, new music, literature, art and philosophy, Machiavelli, the Hundred Years War, Chaucer and the beginnings of the great art of the Renaissance: Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. |
