Teaching in a Diverse Society |
Description: | Examination of the societal and personal attitudes, beliefs, values, assumptions, and biases about culture, race, ethnicity, language, identity, family structures, ability, socio-economic status, and other issues influenced by systemic oppression. This course will look at various ethnic/cultural groups in the United States of America. The course examines theoretical and practical implications of oppression and privilege as they apply to young children, families, and various human service-related fields. Various strategies will be explored emphasizing culturally and linguistically appropriate anti-bias/social justice approaches supporting members in our diverse society. Also offered online. |
